Neumarkt Arrives
Setting out and arriving with purpose
“Neumarkt Arrives” with life-size figures is a community project by various Neumarkt groups, individual school classes, inclusive groups and social institutions, as well as churches and the City of Neumarkt in der Oberpfalz.
The project is an inclusive exhibition. It creates a place of safety, offers protection, and is meant to help people who set out on a journey to arrive—within themselves, in a partnership, at work, or quite literally in a place: their own home.
The participating groups each interpreted “arriving” in their own way and related it to personal situations. The result is many different figures, each with its very own story. A joyful togetherness shaped by mutual understanding, acceptance and tolerance is the message—because Neumarkt arrives together.
Since February 2020, the City of Neumarkt in der Oberpfalz has been part of the European Intercultural City network. In this role, it is committed to using diversity as an advantage for the whole city community and promoting mutual understanding.
The exhibition can be visited individually. Using the QR code on the figures, visitors can access background information about the project and the participating groups.

What is the idea and aim of the project?
The idea behind the project is to engage with the theme of arriving. What does this mean today for an individual or a community? What challenges arise due to different starting points?
The aim of the project is to develop understanding for a community that lets each and every person arrive in their own way. It is a call for more mutual understanding, acceptance and tolerance.
Which figures are on display?
In total, there are 26 different figures to see, all of which explored the question of arriving. The result is highly individual figures—from an altar server to a street musician to a face of diversity.

Who designed the figures?
The figures were built at the Neumarkt vocational school and then artistically designed by social institutions, individual school classes and parish communities.

Where can I see the figures?
The figures can be seen during opening hours at the town hall, the district office, the hospital, the university, the city library, the EUTB, the Hofkirche, the Protestant center, the G6, the boys’ Realschule, the Ostendorfer Gymnasium, the vocational school, as well as the community hall and the community center.
When is the exhibition open?
The exhibition can be visited from 22/09 to 29/10/2026 during the respective opening hours.
How can I support the project?
The project is intended to continue in the coming years and expand. New interested groups can contact the community center in the Old School.
Financial support for the project is also possible; the community center is the point of contact for this as well.
